AAP decided to form government in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal will be the CM

KejriwalNew Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party had stake claim to form government in Delhi on Monday and the convener of AAP, Arvind Kejriwal will swear as the Chief Minister of Delhi. Some sources claimed that Arvind Kejriwal may swear in as CM of Delhi at Jantar Mantar instead of Raj Bhawan.

The party members said that the decision over the formation of government with the support of Congress party has been driven by an overwhelming approval from the public in its referendum conducted over the weekend.

AAP leader Manish Sisodia said, “The response is an overwhelming ‘yes’ and we cannot run away from this responsibility given to us by the people.”

Arvind Kejriwal had announced after the party meeting that he is going to meet the Lt Governor Najeeb Jung to claim for the formation of government in Delhi.

The party is keen to hold Kejriwal’s swearing in ceremony at Jantar Mantar, from where it launched its anti-corruption crusade, in a departure from the practice of taking oath at the governor’s house, Raj Bhawan.

Meanwhile Arvind Kejriwal had called that the oath ceremony will be organized in Ram Leela Maidan and the date of ceremony will be decided after President Pranab Mukherjee will take decision on it.

Meanwhile Arvind Kejriwal said that whenever Lt Governor call him for oath ceremony, he will swear as Chief Minister of Delhi.

Aam Aadmi Party had conducted 272 public meetings of which over 80% were in favor of forming the government By Sunday evening.

Each of the four meeting held by Kejriwal in his constituency on Sunday saw a huge turnout. A loud and resounding yes erupted from the crowd each time he asked whether AAP should form a government in Delhi.

The referendum was held after Delhi threw up a fractured mandate where BJP fell four short of majority with 32 seats and AAP came in a close second with 28 seats. The Congress, which has just eight MLAs, has offered unconditional outside support for AAP to form the government.
