New Delhi: There was chaos at the Mumbai airport on Monday as flights were delayed by more than an hour due to the inclement weather in Delhi. A total of 28 arrivals to Mumbai and 22 departures were delayed by over an hour.
Airport source said, A total of five departures and four arrivals to/from Delhi were cancelled. Due to the Heavy fog coupled with poor visibility hit aircraft operations in the capital, which, in turn, affected flight schedules across the country, especially those to/from Mumbai.
This was the first fog-induced delay of the season and its effects hit thousands of flyers across the country. Among the flights arriving late from Delhi were Jet Airways 9W 302, which was scheduled to land at 12.10pm, but landed at 1.34pm.
The Delhi airport source said, In Delhi, more than 40 flights were affected due to dense fog and poor weather conditions since Sunday night. Operations on runway 29 were suspended and flight operations hit during a large part of the morning. “Early morning flights that were to land in Delhi were instructed to join a hold-over pattern as visibility on the runway dropped to less than 50m, the minimum visibility range required for CAT III B operations.
