Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has demanded Rs. 41,408.79 crore as grant in 14th Finance Commission for various infrastructure projects of state. The demanded had been made in a meeting with Finance Commission Chairman Y.V. Reddy and other members as the state secretariat in Chennai on Monday.
Jayalalithaa had submitted 14 proposals for the upgradation of overall administrative standards and another 10 specific proposals for various identified needs of the state.
The plans include infrastructure to transmit power to load centres, of slum population, restoration of waterbodies and fund for police modernization.
Amma had told commission that state urgently needs fiscal support.
Meanwhile a large section of retired civil servants had not believed about the overall direction of finance to state. They suggested the Finance Commission to look at the aspect before making any decision to grant the amount to state.
