Navi Mumbai to host world’s biggest health & awareness camp on Dec 20

Navi_Mumbai_IndiaNavi Mumbai: The day-long event will offer all kinds of free check-ups, consultation and medicines, besides patient counselling, health education and awareness. According to the organisers, over 1,500 qualified medicos from various disciplines and more than 5,000 paramedical staff and volunteers will be participating in the camp.

A health education and awareness camp is being organized by Dr Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Pratishthan at Dr D Y Patil stadium in Nerul, on December 20 from 7am to 5pm. Over 1.5 lakh people from Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Raigad and Pune have registered for the camp and education programme. They will be given free medicines, as referred by the doctors.

Rupesh Pandit a coordinator said, we have been enrolling people and collecting their health background to make individual files since the last 15 days.  Each team of doctors will be assisted by qualified pharmacists, nurses and other paramedical staff. There will be 500 registration counters across 16 blocks to register the patient’s complaints and issue case papers. Over a dozen ambulances have been arranged with doctors and medicines to take care of emergency patients.

Rajan Amre, an organizer said on that Social reformer Appasaheb Dharmadhikari will flag off the camp at 7am. The camp hopes to set a world record for participation by maximum number of doctors and patients. This will be a world record for providing free health check-ups, counselling and medicine to over 1.5 lakh people.

The organizers say that Limca Book of Records and Guinness Book of World Records have been approached to depute their officials to monitor the event. Patients at camp would get information about various Central and state government health schemes, health insurance facilities, education booklets and pamphlets
