Vinod Binny says, Kejriwal an opportunist autocrat; AAP manifesto is a clever word play

Vinod Binny says, Kejriwal an opportunist autocrat; AAP manifesto is a clever word playNew Delhi: Binny, who stoked a controversy at the time of swearing-in, had on Wednesday accused the Arvind Kejriwal government of betraying people. There is a difference between what AAP says and does. Whatever AAP promised is not what they are implementing,” Binny said to reporters at his residence in east Delhi’s Dallupura.

He said, the promises in the AAP manifesto are a clever word play. I recommend a referendum to ask people if they feel AAP has fulfilled its promises. I appeal to the media to conduct a referendum and find out what people have to say about power and water. As against what we promised, none of the power bills have been waived off. We never said in any of our meetings that anybody using more than 700 litres will pay for entire consumption. This was introduced in the manifesto, but it hardly reaches 2% of the people.

Further, Kejriwal promised janlokpal within 15 days of coming to power. What happened to it? AAP had also promised a commando force for women’s safety. It has not even been initiated. He demanded that a special assembly session be called to pass the janlokpal bill as promised by Kejriwal.

The MLA threatened to go on a hunger strike from January 27 against the Kejriwal government at Jantar Mantar if it does not fulfill the promises made to the people. He said the AAP adopts a use and throw policy to further its interests and attacked the Delhi chief minister saying Kejriwal is not acting on the corruption charges on the previous regime and added that he and a handful of his aides are taking everyone for a ride.

He said that only the top four-five leaders take decisions behind closed doors about tickets, etc so why do they even bother about things like screening committee. The MLA once again reiterated his point that he had never asked for a post or sought any ticket. If Arvind Kejriwal has called me greedy for any post, he is telling a lie. I never sought a ticket earlier for the post of an MLA and for Lok Sabha polls even now. In fact, it was Manish Sisodia (AAP leader and education minister) who handed me a form with 100 signatures. I got my own set of signatures and then went for it,” he said.

Binny also said if he is being labelled as opportunistic by Ashutosh, a senior journalist who joined AAP last week, and then he should answer where was he when he joined the party when no one was ready to even acknowledge it. He was referring to the alleged gang-rape of a 51-year-old Danish woman on Tuesday. She was allegedly sexually assaulted at knife-point for almost five hours by eight men near the New Delhi Railway station.

He also accused Kejriwal of being very close to Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit and alleged that the decisions taken by the AAP are being directed by the Congress party. Reliable sources have told me that Arvind Kejriwal has very good relations with Sandeep Dikshit (son of former chief minister Sheila Dikshit), said Binny. We had a meeting of all the representatives from different constituencies last evening. Why was he silent then?” the CM told reporters in the evening. If there are issues, why did he not speak up then? He had also come to my house to seek a Lok Sabha ticket.

The AAP has been facing a rebellion of sorts from within the party with its members accusing it of not following what it preaches. A prominent member and Deccan Air founder Captain Gopinath has criticized the decision to block foreign direct investment in multi-brand retail in the Capital. Kejriwal government recently reversed the previous government’s nod to deep-discount superstores in Delhi, one of the first states to have allowed FDI in multi-brand retail.
