Gurgaon policeman had pie of Lajpat Nagar lootNew Delhi: An accused in the multi-crore rupee Lajpat Nagar heist has said investigators that a policeman had snatched away a share of the booty from him at a police station. Sources said the cop belongs to Gurgaon police and he has been suspended.

Investigations in the case got a boost on Wednesday after another suspect was nabbed and police recovered the getaway vehicle, a Volkswagen Jetta. Robbers had used this car to flee after packing it with the looted cash and abandoning a Honda City they had snatched.

The arrested man was identified as Sunil, alias Kake. He was picked up from Nangloi in West Delhi and Rs 25 lakh was recovered from him. Sources added that Shakti, one of the two kingpins of the gang behind the daring daylight robbery, was to surrender in court soon.

Five others arrested in the case are Gulzar, Praveen, Tilak, Ajay and Joginder. The mastermind, a juvenile, who had targeted bookie Rajesh Kalra earlier using the same gang, has been apprehended and sent to a correction home. In total, seven arrests have been made till Wednesday, sources said.

When the duo was looking for a car-dealer at Kherki Dhola area in Gurgaon, two policemen intercepted them and took them to the police station. Pradeep had Rs 1 lakh in his pocket and he managed to slip away. But Ajay, who had Rs 9 lakh with him could not. Ajay claimed he was detained at the Kerki Dhola police station for three hours and a head constable snatched Rs 7.5 lakh from him and left him with Rs 1.5 lakh.
