New Delhi: Pakistan had denied arresting mastermind of Mumbai terror attack Hafiz Saeed on Friday. It said that they need hard evidence against Saeed to put him in jail. Notify that Hafiz Saeed is on the top of India’s most wanted list.
Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit said, “We can’t put him in jail just to please everyone.”
Over the controversial meeting of Ved Pratap Vaidik with Hafiz Saeed, Basit said, “Our government was not aware of this meeting and nor was the government of India. It was a meeting between two private individuals and nothing more.”
It had been notified that Basit had called Hafiz Saeed as a private citizen.
He clarified, “We call him that because there is no hard evidence against him. We can’t put him in jail just to please everyone. America may have a bounty but we need hard evidence.”
