New Delhi: Union Minister Arun Jaitley had undergone a planned diabetes management surgery on Tuesday at a private hospital.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had been admitted to the hospital in Saket on Monday evening and an elective laparoscopic procedure was carried out on him on Tuesday.
Hospital had issued a statement which stated, “Arun Jaitley underwent a planned elective laparoscopic procedure for diabetes management today. The procedure has been performed successfully.”
Mr. Jaitley has been a diabetic for last few years.
At the hospital, Dr. Pradeep K. Chowbey said, “It was a planned surgery. He was admitted at around 6 PM yesterday. The surgery is done in an uncontrolled diabetic situation.”
He said, “In this procedure we staple the stomach and make a small pouch of stomach and connect it to the intestine. Thus the food from the small pouch goes to the intestine directly. All this is done endoscopically and laparoscopically.”
Arun Jaitley will be discharged in a day or two from hospital.
