New Delhi: The Supreme Court had criticized the Centre and state pollution control board for the failure to take action against defaulters on Wednesday.
The Supreme Court pulled up the Centre as well as pollution control boards for failing to act against polluting industries functioning on the banks of the holy river.
Apex court had asked the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to monitor and take action against all such polluting industrial units.
Notify that the government had also warned earlier for stringent action against industries that are violating pollution norms on the banks of the river Ganga and its tributaries.
Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar, however, listed 764 such polluting industries which have been given notice to install sensors at affluent discharge points by March 31 next year.
Notify that it is the top agenda of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clean up river Ganga.
