Raipur: 14 other women are in critical condition after undergoing sterilisation surgeries in other organized by Chhattisgarh government in Bilaspur today.
These women had surgeries on Saturday as part of a free “family planning” camp, and on Monday, they reportedly started complaining of pain and fever. By late evening, eight had died.
A three member-panel had been formed by state health department to inquire the incident. The sterilisation camp was held in the home district of Health Minister Amar Agarwal on Saturday.
As a part of family planning programme, the camp was organized.The government has announced Rs. 2 lakh for the families of the women who died and Rs. 50,000 for the others who are in hospital.
