#IPL #Spot-#Fixing: #SC found #Meiyappan, #Kundra guilty, say high probability of #involvement of #Srinivasan in #corruptionNew Delhi: The Supreme Court of India had found guilty to the son-in-law of Srinivasan Gurunath Meiyappan and Co-owner of Rajasthan Royals Raj Kundra in betting on IPL matches.

Based on the 130-page verdict of final probe report in Indian Premier League spot fixing which had been submitted by the Justice Mukul Mudgal committee, wherein it stated that Meiyappan, son-in-law of Srinivasan, was indeed an official of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and did place bets on matches, the apex court read it.

SC had ruled out that N Srinivasan can’t contest the elections of BCCI.

SC had spared N Srinivasan on allegations of cover-up but not on the issue of conflict of interest.

The Rule 6.2.4 of the BCCI Constitution, which Srinivasan amended in 2008 to facilitate his ownership of an IPL franchise, has been struck down by the court.

Suspicion of cover-up was not found against Srinivasan, but SC made strong observation against him. “There is high probability that he was involved in corruption, but there is nothing to prove that.”

The court said, “Decision to award compensation to India Cements casts a shadow of bias on Srinivasan. The argument that Srinivasan owns a minuscule share of India Cements is misleading because his family owns much more.”

Its effectively means the amendments made to rule Rule 6.2.4 of the BCCI Constitution has been struck down.

SC said Srinivasan will not be allowed to contest the BCCI presidential elections that should be held within the next six weeks as consequence.

The court said, “BCCI did not adhere to prescribed procedures while conducting probe in IPL spot-fixing and betting scandal.”

The court also said, “Professional engagement is different from commercial interest.”
