Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the 102nd session of Indian Science Congress (ISC) at the University of Mumbai of Maharashtra.
PM Modi had addressed the session of Indian Science Congress and said that science and technology can remove national barriers, unify the world and advance peace.
PM Modi said, “Human development has been larger purpose and driving force of India’s scientific pursuits with science helping shape modern India. Our scientists have placed us at the forefront of the world in many areas.”
The five-day event will see deliberations and presentation of papers by the scientific fraternity from across the globe.
The theme for 102nd ISC is “Science and Technology for Human Development.”
PM Modi had praised scientists and said, “Whenever the world shut its door on us, our scientists responded with the zeal of a national mission.”
He also said, “When the world sought our collaboration, they reached out with the openness that is inherent in our society.”
He also maintained that dreams we all share for India will depend as much on science and technology as it will on policy and resources.
He said, “There is a mood of optimism for change in the country, the energy to pursue it, and, confidence to achieve it.”
PM also showed that he had been honoured by participating in the Indian Science Congress. He thanked University of Mumbai for hosting it.
