Lucknow: The State Government of Uttar Pradesh had ordered probe after 104 human bodies had been surfaced in the river Ganga near Pariyar between Kanpur and Unnao on Tuesday.
The administration, which indicted these were reportedly bodies that are immersed in the river in the hope of salvation, was caught by surprise by the high number.
Now investigation had been ordered by both Kanpur and Unnao administration into the matter and are making arrangements for the last rites.
To oversee the arrangement, Additional Superintendent of Police and Additional District Magistrate have been sent to the spot.
The Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Unnao, Saryu Prasad, said, “The water has receded, which may be the reason why the bodies have floated up.”
The government of Samajwadi Party and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is under criticism for the latest incident.
Meanwhile State BJP president Laxmikant Bajpai had rushed to the spot and questioned to the state government over the dead bodies. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also ordered for investigation in the incident.
