#Earthquake in #Pakistan leave 5 injured, #magnitude-5.4Islamabad: An earthquake with a moderate magnitude of 5.4 had jolted the northwestern region of Pakistan on Friday morning which causes injuries of at least 5 persons.

According to initial details, strong tremors jolted Islamabad, Mansehra, Rawalpindi, Murree, Sawat, Malakand, Shangla Hill, Batgaram and adjoining areas.

The epicentre of the tremor, originating at a depth of 28.9 km, was about 100 km from Islamabad in Hazarsa region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, according to the US Geological Survey.

Akram Khan, a police official said, at least two aftershocks followed the quake which created panic among the people.

He also said, “So far there are reports that five people were injured but none of them seriously.”

The quake was also felt in surrounding towns and districts, including the capital Islamabad and in parts of Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

Zarif Ul Maani, a senior official in Batgram district neighbouring Mansehra told AFP that at least five people were injured and taken to hospital. Two houses were also damaged, Maani said.
