Jammu: In a joint operation of Rashtriya Rifles units of Army and the Special Operations Group (of Police) had killed two Hizbul Mujahideen militants in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A Defence spokesperson in Srinagar on Saturday said, “Based on specific intelligence about presence of terrorists in Ratsuna area of Tral, a joint operation was launched by Rashtriya Rifles units of Army and the Special Operations Group (of Police) resulting in the killing of two hardcore terrorists.”
The operation was launched last night and ended in wee hours today.
Two AK-47 rifles, six AK magazines and 90 rounds of AK ammunition from the scene had been recovered by security forces.
The slain militants have been identified as Shabir Mir and Idris Ahmad Shah, both local residents of Tral area.
The spokesperson said that they two were affiliated to Hizbul Mujahideen outfits.
