New Delhi: Following demand of an apology by Congress president Sonia Gandhi and adjournment of Lok Sabha twice, Union parliamentary minister Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday apologised for his remarks about Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi. With the Opposition up in arms against Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Venkaiah Naidu for his unparliamentary remarks yesterday, the leader tried to clear the air today. He said he had no intention of hurting anyone.
Venkaiah Naidu had, on Wednesday, taken an apparent dig at Rahul Gandhi,who has taken leave for “retrospection”.”Self-introspect if you can do it here and if you can’t, then go somewhere far and do it,” Naidu said yesterday during a discussion in the .
According to Telegraph, he also went on to comment on the “dynasty”. The minsiter said, “Don’t involve the dynasty, or you will have problems”, after which the Congress members were on their feet.
On Thursday, Sonia Gandhi said that the minister owes parliament an apology and in Parliament, a united opposition raised slogans and demanded that Mr Naidu withdraw his remarks. The protests forced two adjournments in the Lok Sabha.
Following the demand, Mr Naidu apologised after clarifying that he had not intended to hurt anyone. He said, “I had no intention to hurt anybody, had no party or individual in mind when I made the statement.
