Pursue all 27 cases against #MasaratAlam #vigorously: #RajnathSinghNew Delhi: Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday issued advisory to the Jammu Kashmir government on Hurriyat hardliner Masarat Alam and said all 27 cases against the separatist should be pursued vigorously and his bail should also be challenged.

The remarks came as the Home Minister was making statement in the Rajya Sabha on the second report sent by the state government on Alam’s release. The MHA is unsatisfied with the report and has sought more clarification from the government.

Meanwhile, Alam had on Wednesday clarified that his release was in accordance with the law and no deal was struck with the Peoples Democratic Party in Jammu and Kashmir.

Alam had said, “There was no deal with the PDP over my release. The government shouldn’t take credit, I was released as per the law. I’ve got bail in 25 cases and been acquitted in two others. My release doesn’t change what I’m fighting for.”

The BJP faced flak from the opposition parties over the release Masarat Alam on March 7 from jail despite the BJP’s protest. Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh had to make statements in Parliament over the development.

Alam was the mastermind behind the 2010 protests in which hundreds of people lost their lives. He was later arrested on the orders of the then Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah.
