New Delhi: Former Telecom Regulatory Authority of India chairmen Pradip Baijal had claim that former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh had warned him to cooperate in 2G spectrum case or ready of dire consequences.
In his book, Pradip Baijal had claimed that government of United Progression Alliance (UPA) in its second tenure ruined its reputation to divert corruption charges against coalition government.
Baijal says he had warned several people in the UPA II government that all inquiries would lead back to the PM, as he had approved the actions of ministers and ministries in his government.
Baijal had took a stand on its book and said, “This is written in Finance Ministry’s note given to the PMO and several other records in which it is said that he was aware of what was happening. I stand by every word of what I have written in the book. The PM had asked me that I must listen and abide by the instructions of the Telecom Minister. I told him that following those instructions was dangerous, and could lead to a big scam in ‘unbelievable’ proportions and that’s exactly what happened.”
Ex- chairman also claimed that ex-telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran took all decisions freely and threatened him if he did not comply with his instructions.
He said, “This whole thing started with Maran when he didn’t want me to give my recommendations on unified service licencing even though the Cabinet in 2003 had specifically told the TRAI to give recommendations.”
