Bengaluru: The Lokayukta police has filed a fresh FIR against former Chief Ministers of Karnataka, B S Yeddyurappa and H D Kumaraswamy in connection with a land de-notification case. As per reports, the FIRs were filed against the two former CMs by the Lokayukta Police for criminal conspiracy in denotifying land at Matadahalli Layout in RT Nagar.
Apart from the duo, Kumaraswamy’s mother-in-law Vimala and her son TS Channappa would also face prosecution. Rajashekaraiah, the alleged owner of the land, and some officials have also been booked in the case.
The FIRs have been filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act and charge the former CMs with dishonesty, abuse of position for illegal means and criminal misconduct. Charges have also been filed against those named in the FIRs under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for breach of trust, cheating and criminal conspiracy.
The case against the two was registered on the directions of Lokayukta Superintendent of Police Sonia Narang. Under denotification, land acquired for a project by the government is given back to private parties.
