New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had urged the Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor (LG) Najeeb Jung to sit together and find the solution of the issues which had been arises in between them.
After meeting with President Pranab Mukherjee, Home Minister Rajnath Singh outside the Rashtrapati Bhavan said, “The LG and the chief minister should sit together and find a solution. I believe that the LG and the chief minister will definitely find a solution.”
Meanwhile Singh had denied discussing the matter with President Mukherjee although both Jung and the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met with the president separately on Tuesday to give him their versions of their turf war over the appointments of civil servants, raising questions of jurisdiction and constitutional validity.
Unlike other states, in Delhi, matters of law and order and land fall under the Union home ministry’s purview, which sets the ground for potential conflicts between centre and the state.
Notify that tension among Kejriwal and Jung had arises when civil servant Shakuntala Gamlin was appointed by the LG as acting chief secretary of Delhi, despite opposition from the Delhi government.
