Bhopal: Congress on Friday demanded the resignation of Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan over the alleged audio tape row. Congress leader Manak Agarwal on Friday said that his party would file a complaint with the Election Commission and demand strict action against CM Chouhan.
Agarwal said, “This is highly condemnable, the Election Commission (EC) must take note of this. Congress will file a complaint with the EC and demand that strict action be taken against Shivraj Singh Chouhan.”
Senior Congress leader and Former CM of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay Singh had earlier released an audio tape on his social media account, accusing Chouhan of seeking favors from BJP leader Rajesh Chaudhary in lieu of a better post following the Garoth Vidhan Sabha polls.
Digvijay had also demanded for the resignation of Chouhan over the issue.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), however, was swift to deny the allegations.
BJP leader Vishwas Sarang said, “It is a non-issue, just a part of Digvijay Singh ji’s dirty politics. Congress makes efforts to malign image of Shivraj Singh Chouhan before every election.”
