New Delhi: A session court of Delhi had today rejected the bail plea of former Law Minister of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal led AAP’s Delhi Government in fake degree case. The plea was challenging his arrest in the case.
Court rejected interim bail saying it will further ‘complicate’ the matter in the present circumstances.
Court also dismissed Tomar’s plea challenging his police remand in the case but granted him liberty to file a fresh plea.
The court has deferred the hearing in the case till 16th June.
In an application filed before the sessions court, Tomar had on Wednesday alleged that police had arrested him yesterday in violation of prescribed procedure under the law.
Notify that Delhi Police had arrested Tomar on Tuesday on a FIR registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) for allegedly forging documents, including educational degrees, to enrol as an advocate.
A magisterial court had remanded him for four-day police custody till June 13.
Police had sought five-day custody of Tomar saying his educational certificates relating to law degree were “fabricated” and he was required to be taken to Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh and Bhagalpur in Bihar to ascertain his educational qualification.
Police had told the court that educational certificates which Tomar claimed to be true were fabricated and during their initial probe, the authorities who signed those certificates have denied their genuineness.
Noted that Tomar had claimed that he had been graduated from RLM Awadh University but RML Awadh University had denied having any such record of Graduation of Tomar.
