New Delhi: The High Court of Delhi on Friday directed the Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal to clear the salary of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) workers by June 15.
Notify that sanitation workers are on strike from two for the non-payment of salary by MCD. The sanitation workers had also staged a protest outside the residence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.
Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung however, assured MCD mayors that the crisis would be resolved and that Rs 493 crore will be released by Friday itself.
This comes days after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met the striking sanitation workers on Monday and promised them to release Rs 500 crore to clear their salary dues.
According to the East Municipal Corporation, it is awaiting funds in order to clear the salary dues of the striking workers.
Meanwhile the AAP government while reacting on the issue alleged that the funds meant for the salaries of the sanitation workers were diverted by authorities towards making swimming pools and stadiums.
