New Delhi: The team India for the tour of Zimbabwe had been decided by Board of Control for Cricket in India. BCCI had provided rest to seven senior cricketers of Indian Cricket Team and recall Harbhajan Singh for the shorter formats.
Chances to new cricketers had been given by BCCI with Ajinkya Rahane will lead the team in the absence of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni, who, along with R Ashwin, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina and Umesh Yadav have been rested for the short tour. Ravindra Jadeja, however, has been dropped on performance.
Stuart Binny, Dhawal Kulkarni, Mohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, Axar Patel, Mohit Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have retained their respective places from the tour of Bangladesh.
The Sandeep Patil-led BCCI selection committee, that met here on Monday, also named Cheteshwar Pujara as skipper of the India A squad.
Coming into the senior team for Zimbabwe are Robin Uthappa, Kedar Jadhav, Murali Vijay, Manish Pandey, Harbhajan, Karn Sharma and Sandeep Sharma. However, it’s interesting to note there is no place for Wriddhiman Saha and either Rayudu, Uthappa or Jadhav will don the gloves.

The team is scheduled to arrive in Harare on July 7 for three ODIs and two T20 internationals. The tour kicks off with the first ODI on July 10.
