#Twitter to increase up #character limit on #DMs from 140 to 10,000

#Twitter to increase up #character limit on #DMs from 140 to 10,000Twitter had announced to update the Direct Messages (DMs) from 140 to 10,000.  The latest announcement had showed that Twitter is very aware of how efficient it’s public display system is and how ridiculous it’s DMs are for conversation. Sure, you can ping a friend in a few quick phrases, but what if you’re on the Twitter app and want to have a private conversation with them.

Limiting your babble to 140 character bites can be frustrating, which is why, as far as messaging apps go, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Kik are the more popular options. But that could all change now.

Twitter has brought a lot of new changes in the past like letting you buy products off your feed, letting you battle trolls and enabling quote tweets.

This latest one solidifies the view:  Twitter wants you to stay in their app for everything, much like Facebook launching their Instant News Articles feature. Some might say that removing the 140 character limit, even for DMs, is changing what Twitter is at its core. And to them i say, maybe you’re right. But is that really a bad thing? You can’t be spammed, because you’re most likely only going to get DMs from your friends, whom you probably don’t mind talking to anyway. So why not do it effciciently without switching apps? What’s there to lose?

The announcement has been made on the Twitter Developer forum and will be officially rolled out in July.
