Hyderabad: Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s Rs 5-crore bulletproof ‘vanity’ bus drew sharp criticism from the Opposition on Friday, who termed it as a waste of money.
The Telangana government has bought a bullet bus for chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Manufactured by German auto-maker Mercedes Benz, the bus is equipped with the latest technology and is the most secured vehicle which can withstand any type of attack.
The bus will be used by Mr Rao to tour districts from Friday for the Telanganaku Haritha Haram (green drive). The bus has a bedroom, a restroom, a small hall for holding meetings, and stairs to climb to the roof to address the public.
The bus as Wi-Fi, and a video facility to enable Mr Rao to hold press conferences inside the bus, CMO sources said Mr Rao checked out the bus at the camp office and expressed complete satisfaction with the features. He suggested a few changes which are to be taken up later.
Once the bus reaches the city, CM K Chandrasekhar Rao will have a look and suggest changes, if he needs any. An amount of Rs 5 crore is being spent on the vehicle.
