Chhath Puja celebration in India, special traffic arrangements in DelhiNew Delhi: Traffic Police have made elaborate arrangements for the next two days on the occasion of Chhath Puja, with nearly 3 lakh people across the city expected to participate in the celebrations. Thousands of people are expected to throng the banks of the Yamuna on November 17 and 18.

“The normal flow of traffic is likely to be affected on Tuesday and Wednesday on roads adjoining the major ghats of the Yamuna and water bodies like Bhalaswa Lake and Haiderpur Canal. Appropriate diversions will be made by traffic police… advisories have been sent out, requesting commuters to avoid roads adjoining the puja sites. We are also deploying a helicopter to carry out sorties on these two days,” said Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Muktesh Chander.

Some of the places in West Delhi, where police are expecting a sizeable crowd to gather, are Jai Vihar in Nangloi, Ganda Nala in Paschim Vihar and Mahavir Enclave Telephone Exchange. In East Delhi, the cremation ground opposite Soor Ghat, Purvi Ghat in Wazirabad, the ghat near Nanaksar Gurdwara, Ghat Garhi Mandu, Ghats of Sonia Vihar and Chauhan Patti, Rainy Well in Shakarpur and IP Estate are expected to be crowded.Chhath Puja celebration in India, special traffic arrangements in Delhi

In Central and North Delhi, Kudesiya Ghat near the ISBT, Yamuna Ghat, Yamuna Bazar, Sur Ghat, Shyam Ghat, Ram Ghat, Kali Ghat in Wazirabad and Hathi Ghat at ITO are expected to be crowded.

In South and South-east Delhi, the celebrations are expected to take place at Kalindi Kunj, Agra canal and Badarpur. In Northwest and Outer Delhi, Bhalaswa lake, Bawana canal, Haiderpur Canal, Shiv Mandir in Inder Enclave in Sultanpuri are expected to be crowded.
