United Kingdom  set to sizzle: Seven British beaches to enjoy the heatwave this weekend #London : Parts of Britain will be hotter than Ibiza this weekend, as temperatures reach a high of 23C.

London, Wales and parts of northern England will be basking in sunshine thanks to a south-easterly wind that will bring the warmer weather.

The average temperature for this time of year is around 16C, so this weekend’s Mediterranean temperatures come as a pleasant surprise.

From the the hidden inlets of Scotland’s Achmelvich beach, to the azure waters of Dorset’s Man of War Bay, here are seven beaches you won’t believe are in the UK.

1. Whitsundays? Nope. This stunning stretch of sugary white sand can actually be found in Scotland.

Achmelvich beach, in WesterRoss on the west coast of Scotland, features crystal-clear waters thanks to it’s powdery sand.
