New Delhi: The Allahabad High Court on Friday reportedly directed the Uttar Pradesh government to issue new abattoir licences and renew old ones, stating the state can’t deny people their right to eat non-vegetarian food.
The court reportedly made the comment while hearing over two dozen pleas filed against the state government after its crackdown on the illegal abattoirs, the Economic Times reported.
According to the report, the court has directed the state government to commission new licences and renew old ones.
It also said that people can apply for a new licence as well as renew them from the state food safety department.
The court reportedly directed the state government to solve the issue as soon as possible.
