Mumbai: A 40-year-old psychologist and pre school director in Thane committed suicide on Saturday, September 2. A resident of Panchpakhadi in Thane, the woman was married and had two children.
The deceased, Shradha Lad was found hanging from the ceiling fan at her residence on Saturday night by her husband. While the police have registered an accidental death report, no suicide note has been found at the house.
Lad was alone in the house as both her sons had been out and even her husband had gone out, sources in the police said. When he returned in the evening, Dileep Lad (45) found the door of the house locked from inside. “Eventually when the door of the house had to be opened forcefully, he found his wife hanging from the ceiling fan in one of the rooms inside,” said API S Owalkar of Naupada police. According to police, Lad had been running the school, her primary business for the past 12 years.
The Lads have two sons, both of whom are in college. “She came across as a very calm and composed woman. She was well respected in the area as all the kids would go to her pre-nursery school and thus we regarded her as a teacher,” said one of the neighbours.
While the police have not found any suicide note, they have almost ruled out foul play. “It was a case of suicide. She hung herself from a ceiling fan and thus died of choking. We have even spoken to her brother and mother with whom she was in constant contact. They clarified that she was not in any kind of trouble,” Owalkar said.
