NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has underscored that Delhi does not have full statehood under the Constitution, but added that the Lieutenant Governor is bound by the aid and the advice of the elected government.
The judgement of the five-judge Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court was read out by Chief Justice Dipak Misra on Wednesday.
This brings the the legal battle between the AAP and the Centre for control over the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi closer to conclusion.
