Lok Sabha election 2019: Complaint filed against Priyanka Gandhi for comparing PM Modi to 'Duryodhan'NewDelhi: The sixth phase of voting for 59 Lok Sabha seats across 6 states and one Union Territory is scheduled to take place on Sunday. In this phase, voting will take place in some seats in Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Delhi.

Several leaders and political bigwigs will continue with their high-octave electioneering across the country and will hold election rallies and roadshows on Wednesday.

* Congress president Rahul Gandhi accused the AAP of “opening doors” for Narendra Modi in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls and asserted that it is only his party that can defeat the BJP.

* BJP filed a complaint with the state Election Commission against Congress candidate for Panaji bye-elections Atanasio Monseratte also known as ‘Babush’, for violating a provision of the Election Commission by not publishing the details of criminal cases against him in print as well as in electronic media.

* A local BJP leader registered a complaint against in Mumbai’s Wasim area for Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for comparing PM Narendra Modi to ‘Duryodhana’.

* Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra alleged that while farmers were suffering, Rs 5,50,000 crore of big industrialists were waived by the BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s friends recorded profits of Rs 10,000 crore in last five years.

* A controversy has erupted over the cancellation of four rallies of the Samajwadi Party in Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh.

The Samajwadi Party on Thursday night claimed that the district administration had withdrawn permission for the rallies to be held on Friday.

However, Shivakant Dwiwedi, the District Magistrate of Azamgarh, claimed that he had received a request for cancellation of public meetings of the former Chief Minister from SP district party chief Havaldar Yadav. 

* BSP supremo Mayawati questioned if RSS would have allowed Narendra Modi to become the Prime Minister if he belonged to the backward community and lashed out at him for “laughable and immature” allegations of casteism against the SP-BSP alliance.

* A petition has been filed by an RTI activist in the Indore High Court. The petition states that almost 8000 voters have unethically added their names in the electoral roll.

* Indian Overseas Congress president Sam Pitroda issues clarification on 1984 anti-Sikh riots, says, “BJP twisting my words to hide their failures.”

“I have noticed how BJP is again twisting three words from my interview to distort facts, divide us and hide their failures. Sad that they have nothing positive to offer,” he tweeted.

“I acknowledged the pain of my Sikh brothers and sisters during difficult times in 1984 and deeply feel for the atrocities that happened. But these are things from past that are not really relevant to this election which is all about what did modi government do for the last five years. Rajiv Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will never target a group of people based on creed.”

“BJP is talking about these issues and attacking congress leaders with lies because they can not talk about their performance and have no vision to take india forward to inclusively growth and prosperity for all with focus on Jobs, kids and more Jobs.”

* Campaigning for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019 will end on Friday as Delhi, Bhopal, Azamgarh and Bengal are all set to go to polls on Sunday.

* In a major shot in the arm to Hoshiarpur candidate Som Parkash, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a rally in his support in Hoshiarpur on May 10. With the BJP announcing the candidates for all three of its seats in the past 10 days, this will be the first rally by the Prime Minister in support of a party candidate from Punjab during the ongoing LS elections.
