Hyderabad: At least twelve people were injured when two trains collided on Monday morning at Kacheguda Railway Station in Hyderabad, Telangana. The injured passengers were immediately rushed to the Osmania General Hospital out of which two of them were discharged. Train services in Kacheguda to Falaknuma section have been affected.
The incident took place when a Multi-Modal Transit System (MMTS) train which slowly started from Platform 2, and the Hundry Intercity Express, which was approaching Platform 4, mildly collided at the intersection place resulting in the injuries.
The MMTS service train plying between Lingampalli to Falaknuma derailed due to collision with Hundry Intercity-Express plying between Kurnool City and Secunderabad at 10.30 am towards the Falaknuma side, according to the South Central Railway. Following this, six coaches of the MMTS service and three coaches of Hundry Express were affected.
Senior Railway Officials including BB Singh, Additional General Manager Chief Security Commissioner, Division Railway Manager, Hyderabad, Chief Medical Director, Chief Safety Officer along with Medical Relief Van and Accident Relief train rushed to the spot to undertake relief and restoration works.
Top officials of the South Central Railway (SCR) are looking into the matter. A high-level enquiry will be conducted on the incident.
