New Delhi: Delhi Metro had revive the fares of Delhi metro’s Airport Express Line and slashed them by 40% after Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu urged Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Managing Director Mangu Singh to review it.
Fares on the Delhi Metro’s Airport Express Line will be down by July 24. The minimum fare on the corridor is now down to Rs.20 from Rs.30 and the maximum fare down from Rs.180 to Rs.100. He makes it comparable to the current fares of air-conditioned buses. He had also asked that the train frequency be increased and the line linked to other transport facilities.
A one-way journey from New Delhi station to Dwarka Sector 21 using a single journey token will now cost only Rs.100 after new fares.
Delhi Metro spokesperson said that the Fare Store Value Card offered to commuters will have a discount of 10 per cent and the DMRC will also offer further discounts on the purchase of multiple journey trip cards.
DMRC spokesperson said, “The revised fares will be beneficial for daily commuters travelling from areas like Dwarka and Dhaula Kuan to New Delhi and vice versa. The Airport-bound commuters will also benefit. However, the rate of all the existing cards and discount schemes will be discontinued. In addition, a special scheme for Sundays will be there only for single journey token users having a minimum fare of Rs.20 and a maximum fare of Rs.60.”
The 30 trips, 45 trips and 60 trips cards with a validity of one month will be available for customers. In case of 60 trip cards, the minimum and maximum one-way fares will further come down to less than Rs.9 and Rs.40 respectively.
