Power Ministry claimed there is no shortage of coal for MP thermal plantsBhopal: Piyush Goyal, the Union Power, Coal and Renewable Energy Minister had claimed on Sunday that government had provided total share of coal to all thermal plants of Madhya Pradesh.

He had pointed out the power crisis in Madhya Pradesh and said that he had made a discussion with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and concluded there was some paucity of coal in Vindhyachal and Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power plants, not because of short supply, but due to excess generation at the plants. He said he was sure there was “no thermal power plant in the state where definite quantity of coal has not reached.”

On August 21, managing director of Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Manu Shrivastav said, “Power generation has been affected due to shortage of water in reservoirs following weak monsoon. Power generation is also less in state’s thermal power plants due to lack of coal supply. Supply to state’s thermal power plants is expected to normalise in one or two days.”

Notify that Madhya Pradesh get 96% of the total allocation of coal. He also said while monitoring coal and gas based power plants, load factor would be an important issue.
