Dewas: MP Dewas factory blast: An explosion in a firecracker factory in the Dewas district of the state of Madhya Pradesh has resulted in two deaths, while more than fifteen people have sustained injuries. The explosion was so powerful that its sound was felt across the area and even the walls of buildings located near the factory were shaking, which caused partial damage to the building itself.
Horrendous pictures at the blast scene
The incident took place in a factory situated in the Tonkkala locality along AB Road. Sources report that the factory building was destroyed due to the blast, while witnesses speak of gruesome scenes and claim that the bodies were mutilated to such an extent that their fragments fell onto the nearby street. It led to mass hysteria, and people fled the area after the explosion.
Casualties and rescue operation
Local sources claimed that there are more victims, but currently, only the deaths of two workers can be confirmed by the officials. Six out of fifteen injured people are in a critical condition and require hospitalization at the hospital in Indore.
As soon as they received the information, the police, along with the fire brigade, arrived at the site and tried to control the situation. With the assistance of the local community members, emergency services succeeded in rescuing the people and removing them from the ruins.
Charges of safety violation
The local villagers have lodged very strong accusations against the factory’s management, accusing them of openly storing gunpowder and negligence when it came to safety. It has been alleged by the locals that even after several warnings against such dangerous practices, no actions were taken by the concerned departments against the factory.
Outrage and investigation
The whole situation has created great outrage in the local community. The residents have raised many questions about the owner of the factory, named Anil Malviya, who runs the factory under the umbrella of some influential person. Many reports have emerged of large amounts of gunpowder left in the open at the time of the incident.
