Srinagar: Seven army person including two officers had been convicted for involvement in the Machil fake encounter in 2010 in Jammu and Kashmir. All accused had been rewarded with life imprisonment and services of personnel had been suspended.
The judging panel had found all accused guilty in killing civilians and hatching a conspiracy
Notify that three youth from North Kashmir were lured to Kupwara with the promise of job and money and were killed in a staged encounter by troops near the Line of Control in 2010.
Army personnel had dubbed them as Pakistani terrorists and claimed that they are attempting to infiltrate in the country.
A court of enquiry had been ordered and court martial proceedings had begun in January 2014.
The court found seven soldiers, two civilians and one member of territorial Army guilty in the proceedings. A colonel rank officer and a captain have been found guilty in the fake encounter.
The order after the probe had provided a major relief to the families of victims. The family of victims had demanded action against the Army officers.
