Washington: John Kerry, the United States Secretary of State will visit Pakistan this month, shortly after certifying that government of Pakistan’s action against terror group Lashkar-e-t-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).
It has been expected that the authorization of Pakistan Government by U.S. will spark outrage in India. US Secretary John Kerry will visit the Vibrant Gujarat Summit that had been begin from January 11 in Gandhinagar of Gujarat and US President Barack Obama to visit India on January 24.
The Foreign ministry of Pakistan had announced this week that the Strategic Dialogue in Islamabad will be lead by John Kerry later in January.
Notify that certificate is a condition for the U.S. to disburse funds under the Kerry-Lugar Bill for civilian aid to Pakistan that was co-authored by Mr. Kerry in 2009.
It has been disclosed by a US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson that grant of this year of $532 million to Pakistan will be disbursed shortly, as the Congress gave its nod to President Obama.
Mr. Olson met Pakistan’s Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to finalise the agenda for Mr. Kerry’s upcoming visit. Significantly, the Kerry-Lugar Bill lapsed in September 2014, but only about half of the $7.5 billion outlay has been disbursed so far, claimed official agency APP.
