Mumbai: The Shiv Sena, in its mouthpiece Saamana, criticised Uttar Pradesh minister and Samajwadi Party’s Muslim face Azam Khan for writing a letter to the United Nations against the Centre and raising the issue of pathetic living conditions of Muslims in India. The Shiv Sena also claimed the the Uttar Pradesh government was responsible for the Dadri violence.
Why has Azam never written to the UN about the pathetic condition of Hindus in Pakistan? By writing to the UN about local issues, he has done an anti-national act. He has no right to remain on a constitutional post,” Saamna said.
On 5 October, Khan wrote to the UN seeking justice for the Dadri incident and sought intervention for the treatment of Muslims in India. Khan had also sought time from United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to register his complaint against the BJP-led NDA government.
Calling him an ‘deshdrohi’, the editorial asserted that Azam Khan be stripped off his post as an MLA and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and state chief minister Akhilesh Yadav must sack him without delay.
Meanwhile, justifying his decision to take the Dadri lynching case to the UN, Khan had said earlier that if India can raise the issue of Kashmir in the UN, why not about the murder of an innocent man.
