Mumbai: Bollywood’s much loved diva, the talented and ravishing Rekha turns 59 on Thursday. She began acting at the age of eight in the 60s, but struck fame only in the late 70s. The highlight of her career was the films she did with Amitabh Bachchan, who, by the way, celebrates his birthday tomorrow. Despite being relatively inactive on the film front, Rekha has still retained her place in the hearts and minds of her fans. The smitten diva of Silsila, the enticing courtesan of Umarao Jaan, vivacious girl-next-door of Khoobsurat, the seductress of Utsav and the motherly figure of Krish, Rekha has displayed immense versatility in the 180 films she has done in 40 years so far. Years may have clocked by, but Rekha still brims with buoyancy so characteristic of her. Just last month, she was seen dancing on the stage at Yash Chopra’s 81st birth anniversary.
