NewDelhi: Supreme Court on Wednesday announced that all petitions related with Aadhaar- related matters will be heard in the first week of November.
Earlier the government informed the apex court that the centre will extend deadline to furnish Aadhaar to avail benefits of various social welfare schemes till December end.
Supreme Court in a ruling on August 24 had protected the Right to Privacy as a fundamental right under the constitution. Following this, the Unique Identification Authority of India(UIDAI) had reinstated that linking of Aadhaar to Permanent Account Number (PAN) was still mandatory.
All the deadlines that have been prescribed under the Aadhaar Act, Income Tax Act or money laundering rules still have to be adhered to as those laws are valid, as per the government, since Aadhaar Act is a valid law passed by Parliament.
The government had said that the Supreme Court judgement has not said anything about the Aadhaar Act yet.
