NewDelhi: A 25-year-old woman, who was kidnapped in March from west Delhi’s Tilak Nagar, was rescued on Thursday from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. The woman was allegedly sold to someone by the kidnappers where she was forcefully married and raped.
DCP (west) Vijay Kumar said that a team led by SHO Tilak Nagar Shiv Kumar raided the accused’s hideout in Aligarh and rescued the girl. Sanjay (29) and Phoolwati(55) have been arrested.
Police said that Sanjay had been paid Rs 50,000 by a man named Sukhbir to provide him a woman for marriage. Sanjay teamed up with Phoolwati to find a girl for his client.
On March 30, Phoolwati saw the woman on a street and told her to come with her. She was handed over to Sanjay by Phoolwati, who met Sukhbir and got the girl married to him forcefully. Afterwards, she was sexually abused by Sukhbir.
The woman somehow managed to call her father who informed the police. Sukhbir fled before they reached.
