Davanagere: A 19-year old girl while returning to her home from dance rehearsal at Saturday night at 9:30 PM faces the attempt of rape by her own friend named Prithvi (22). While returning from dance class, Prithvi offered her a ride to home on his motorcycle. But instead of going home, Prithvi took her to a desolate place behind Bapuji Auditorium and attempted to rape her. Girl was trained in karate, fight with him bravely and due to her resistance, Prithvi picked up a boulder and attacked on her with it. The girl gets injured on her head, eye and mouth, screamed for help but nobody came to rescue her.
Prithvi fled from spot and the girl crawled back to her home with disfigured face and awash with blood.
Prithvi had been arrested by police on Sunday morning.
While talking to media, father of victim said that her daughter had recently enrolled in dance class to perform at a New Year event. She had met with that guy Prithvi through a common friend a month ago and they met usually. Prithvi had reportedly call to her daughter and asked her where she was. When he turned up his bike, she wasn,t surprised and accepted a ride home on Saturday.
Father of victim said, “Her daughter is trained in yoga and karate, so she could resist, and almost thrashed him. But she couldn’t do much when he attacked her with a boulder.”
Victim lost five front teeth and suffered injuries on her head and eye.
D Prakash, SP of Davanagere said that victim is undergoing treatment at Bapuji Hospital. He said, “She is out of danger. Her face is swollen and she is under medication. She is unable to speak now.”
He also said, “We’re interrogating the accused to ascertain the truth.”
