Patna: Bihar Police on Friday arrested two people for allegedly shouting anti-India slogans while celebrating RJD candidate Sarfaraz Alam’s victory in the Araria Lok Sabha bypolls.
According to social media, the Bihar Police have arrested two men – Sultan Aazmi and Shehjad – and are on the lookout for others seen in the video that went viral on the social media.
Those arrested by police are believed to be neighbours of the newly-elected RJD in his village in Araria.
They were arrested after the police conducted a raid at the MP’s village late on Thursday.
The police swung into action following a complaint by BJP candidate Pradeep Kumar Singh, who was defeated in the Araria bypolls, that people chanting anti-India slogans were supporters of Sarfaraz Alam.
Singh had appealed to the Araria Superintendent of Police to take cognisance of this entire viral video and register an FIR.
A group of men could be seen chanting ”Pakistan Zindabad” (Long live Pakistan) in the viral video.
It was not initially clear whether the video was authentic and the people who were seen in the video were indeed supporters of the newly elected RJD MP.
However, the Araria Police late confirmed that nit had made arrets in connection with the viral video which was authentic and shot at Sarfaraz Alam’s village soon after he won the elections.
Dipankar Shri Gyan, the SHO of Araria, had lodged a suo-moto FIR after taking cognizance of the whole matter last night.
DSP of Araria Kumar Devendra Singh had those who are circulating this video viral will also be arrested.
We have received the information. FIR has been registered and arrests are yet to be made. As far as the people who are circulating the video are concerned, they will be traced and action will be taken: KD Singh, SDPO Araria, said.
RJD leader Sarfaraz Alam had called the anti-India video ‘fake’ and demanded an investigation into it.
