Two train engines derail in Bangalore

Train movement at the busy Bangalore City Station was affected badly after engines of two trains derailed during shunting operations around 4 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Railway authorities said engines of train no 12028, Bangalore-Chennai Shatabdi Express and train no 12608, Bangalore – Chennai Lal Bagh Express derailed while shunting operations were being conducted. Both trains were to leave the station at 6 a.m and 6.30 am respectively.

Railway authorities rushed to the station to take up restoration works and several trains leaving Bangalore were delayed by more than two hours, leaving the passengers fuming. Officials are confident of restoring normalcy in train operations shortly.
