Rupee trading a little weak at 62.40Mumbai: The rupee was trading slightly weak at 62.40 against the dollar at 1.18 p.m. local time on thin volumes as investors await crucial data on inflation next week. The domestic unit had ended weak by 17 paise at 62.33 on Monday due to strong American currency and weak domestic equity market.

After opening weak by 7 paise at 62.40 day at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market, the rupee largely remained range-bound in the morning session, trading in a narrow range of 62.41 to 61.34 per dollar.

The American currency was also trading strong against overseas currencies on continued sentiments of positive outlook given by the US central bank last week. Asian currencies were trading mixed compared to the dollar. Further, the BSE-benchmark Sensex was trading down by 113.46 points (0.55 per cent) at 20,673.84 points in the morning trade.
