Sonia doesn't want to project Rahul as PM candidate since Congress defeat is sure: ModiAddressing the BJP national executive meet at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, Modi reiterated the 2014 general elections would be different in all aspects.

He said the country was reeling under the burdens of unemployment and corruption, and women are not safe in India.

Highlights for what Modi said in Delhi:

• We need to change our approach towards healthcare. In health sector we address sickness but we should address wellness.

• We need to strengthen our primary education. Why can’t every state have an IIM and IIT and AIIMS.

• If the states bring plans and the Centre supports you can have 24 hour power across the country.

• We can help India become a global brand with: Talent, Trade, Tradition, Tourism and Technology

• If a farmer plants trees along his plot border it will help meet demands for timber which we import presently.

• Can’t there be development of milk industry across the nation like in Gujarat? It can meet milk demands.

• Apart from agro-infrastructure, we should also take further the idea of joining rivers.

• Our agriculture should progress. ‘Per drop more crop’ should be our motto. We should use new technology.

• You can only imagine how much this infrastructure development can benefit the progress of the nation.

• We should also develop the twin city concept. Like New York-New Jersey. We can benefit from it.

• Why can’t we have specialised cities? We can create 100 new cities for the nation.

• Urbanisation should be viewed as an opportunity. Policies should tailored to encourage ubranisation.

• I am taking a little too much time no? You must be hungry.

• We should change the way we view women. We should stop viewing them as homemakers but nation builders.

• On a mission mode we should have a ‘beti bachao, beti padhao’ campaign. There can’t be anything worse than female infanticide

• What is happening with our mothers and sisters leaves us shame faced. Dignity of women should be a committment.

• It will soon be the diamond jubilee of the nation, shouldn’t we reinvent Vajpayee’s vision and have a bullet train network.

• We have such an extensive railways. It’s sad how it has been neglected.

• Infrastructure development is also very important. If there is a gas grid then there won’t be fights about LPG cylinders

• Every pice stored in a foreign account illegally will be brought back and used to benefit the poor.

• Everyone of us should commit that we will fulfil the statements of Advaniji.

• He said India is a beehive, but we believe India is our mother.

• I appeal to all those watching me today to ponder over my speech.

• The whole nation agrees that the Congress party is immersed only in thought.

• In Congress meet it was said that it was a thought. We also agree. Without any thought nothing can take place.

• We should develop towards making our institutions of knowledge stronger.

• We are creators of knowledge. India has always done well in the era of science.

• We should empower women of the nation and focus on their education. We should pay attention to their security.

• We have to preserve our agriculture and we should have intent to to save it.

• Our family structure, values have saved us for hundreds of years. Our policies should focus on strengthening it.

• The PM has formed committees for every problem. Nation is suffering. We don’t need committees but committment.

• Good governance should go beyond doles and focus on development and delivery.

• The nation has also heard the term:act, act, act. What it needs is action.

• We don’t just need bills and we need political will. And to do that we need political dil.

• We are hearing many things but we should decide whether we should believe in a tape record or track records.

• We will take good governance and progress.

• We will have to give importance to good governance. It is not for the rich but for the poor, backward, Dalits and oppressed

• If we can form united structures then we can take the nation forward by combining our strengths.

• I want the PM and CMs to be a team that takes the nation forward.

• The Delhi people think that they are giving us doles but that is not how we will handle the federal structure.

• I can understand troubles of every state and chief minister. BJP will empower the federal structure of nation.

• As a CM I completely understand the importance of the federal structure of the nation.

• We are a federal nation and it cannot be just adhered to as something constitutional. We need to respect it in letter and spirit.

• They were earlier viewed as a burden but regional aspirations can also be viewed as an opportunity.

• We want to move ahead with a vision of inclusivity. We should not consider regional aspirations a problem.

• It should at least be that the east of India is doing as well as the west of it.

• I want to promise that when you vote us to power this year that we will ensure the progress of the region that is lagging behind.

• What was wrong in our policies that there is progress taking place in west India but entire east is in disarray?

• We have heard a lot about concern for poor and progress.

• That is the reason why hundreds are joining the BJP, approach us seeking to work for us.

• At that time they died for swaraj but this time the youth are willing to fight for soorajya.

• It reminded me of the battle of independence where people were willing to give up their lives.

• On 26 October in the middle of bomb blasts the sight of people still listening to us, it reminded me of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev.

• A man whose mother used to clean people’s utensils? A man who once sold tea on trains? How can we stoop to this battle, they think.

• They think they are part of a family that has always been respected and we have to take on someone from a backward caste?

• They are naamdaar but I am a kaamdaar.

• They have begun to think that they must win the elections and think it is an unfair battle to take on a chai-wallah.

•  These days there is a lot of talk about chai-wallahs, who are all walking around proudly.

• This is a mother’s statement: Nahin, nahin. Mere bete ko bachao (save my son)

• I see a human reason for the Congress decision. When defeat is imminent, will any other mother sacrifice her son.

• Sonia Gandhi nominated Singh and he was made PM. You can’t escape with these talks of Parliamentary panel.

•  In 2004, the Congress Parliamentary Party hadn’t picked Manmohan Singh to be PM, but Madam Sonia Gandhi.

•  What tradition are they talking about?

•  Was there a Congress Parliamentary meeting to decide Rajiv Gandhi would be the PM.

•  When Indira Gandhi was assassinated, Rajiv Gandhi rushed to hospital and in moments he was declared PM.

•  Everyone wanted Sardar Patel to be the PM but despite that he was not made the PM.

•  Nation wants to know that at independence when the first PM was chosen what happened to democratic principles?

•  Congress workers came to find a PM candidate and they returned with 3 cylinders of LPG.

•  Congress workers had come to Delhi after being told their PM candidate would be picked .

•  In Congress national conference it was all about saving party, here it is all about saving the nation.

•  The two national parties have had national conferences in Delhi.

•  This is not just an election. It is an election of hope and aspiration.

•  Farmers committing suicide, youths migrating, kids dying of hunger. Such a poor condition has never been seen

•  Where every leader’s decision is doubted, such a condition was never before seen in the country.

•  Before this election, the nation was never in such a poor condition.

•  But look at all previous elections, they are all different.

•  Many elections have come before. All of us have experience of working for elections.

•  Before this election, the nation was never in such a poor condition.

•  2014 polls is different from all the elections in the past.

•  For 2 days we have been here discussing the nation’s condition.
Earlier on the day, party leader Sushma Swaraj said the Congress has not named a PM candidate because it fears losing the coming general elections.

“We have declared that we will be fighting the election under the leadership of (Narendra) Modiji as he is our PM candidate but the Congress is avoiding naming their candidate because it fears losing the election,” party leader Sushma Swaraj said.

The Congress has said that vice president Rahul Gandhi won’t be the prime ministerial candidate but lead the party’s election campaign in the Lok Sabha election.

Sushma Swaraj wanted to know why did Prime Minister Manmohan Singh say it would be good if Rahul Gandhi leads the nation if the Congress does not believe in naming a prime ministerial candidate.
