Karnataka government monitoring social mediaBANGALORE: Karnataka government is monitoring the social media to prevent attempts by fundamental organizations to trigger communal hatred.

Governor H R Bhardwaj revealed this during his address to the joint session of the state legislature here on Wednesday.

He said: The government is aware of the need to curb all attempts being made by fundamentalist organizations to vitiate communal harmony in different parts of the state. The role of social media in triggering such events to be monitored and the government has been taking prompt, effective and unbiased administrative action to prevent any disruption in maintaining communal harmony.” However, he said the number of communal incidents had declined in the state.

The governor said the government had given approval for setting up 10 special courts for speedy disposal of cases against women and had made rapid progress in implementing crime and criminal tracking and network systems.
