Purulia: Unidentified gunmen had shot dead to a BJP leader in Purulia when the leader was going for a morning walk at Baghmundi.
Purulia SP Nilkanta Sudhir Kumar said that BJP Bagmundi Block President Anil Gope died on the spot when gunmen shot at him from point blank range near his home at Raghunathdihi village, close to the Jharkhand border on Friday.
The SP and other senior police officers rushed to the spot to inquire about the incident.
The body has been sent to the Purulia Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
BJP district president BP Singhdeo had been alleged that this killing was a political killing.
