Patna: Over 100 maoists had attacked and open fire on Dhanbad-Patna inter city express in Bihar on Thursday afternoon. Maoists attacked on train near Jamui, hijacked the train, took its driver hostage and looted arms of the escort party. The driver of the train and some passengers were hit in the firing. Sources said that the Naxals, mainly comprising armed girls, appeared from nowhere as the train came to a screeching halt in a forest area. It appeared that some of their fellowers were already in the train, pulled the chain at the specified spot. They stopped the train when some of their bogies were in a tunnel.
The Maoists attacked on general compartments and forced the passengers to get down. They loot the passengers at their gunpoint. The incident happened at around 1PM and the train strand their for more then two hours after the incident. The train move from that place after two hours. The police said that forces have been rushed to the spot but passengers were not aware of arrival of force. Railway officials describe this attack as the biggest ever attack on the train at day time in Bihar. The Naxal attack in that region had occurred in the past too. On asking for this maoist attack, Rail SP Amitabh Kumar Das said, “The extremists have looted the arms of the escort party and it appeared that attack was aimed at looting the arms and ammunition.”
